A week by motorbike, a trip in the wild Sardinia in the holidays between April 25th and May 1st

A complete tour of Sardinia between the hairpin bends overlooking the sea, the Mediterranean maquis, the sensational cuisine, the history and traditions of an island unique in the world

€ 1099

For Elena and the other bikers of Giroola, Sardinia is a familiar journey, exceptionally beautiful and exciting, especially in spring. After the great success of the last edition of this trip, our motorcycle week in Sardinia is back in 2020.

We chose the holidays of April 25th and May 1st to be able, with just 4 days off, to get a whole week of biking.

From the fascinating nuraghi to the hairpin bends on the sea, from the expanses of crystalline water to the ancient mines, from the Phoenician cities to the fishing villages, a motorcycle week in spring in Sardinia is a concentration of scents, of flavors and sparkling colors.  We will go all around the island, and everyone will surely find his favorite road (ours is Nuoro-Bitti).

We will taste the sweetest seadas, the carasau bread, the wines from the millenary tradition and the fresh Ichnusa beer, a must for those visiting the island.

The more adventurous may perhaps take a dip in the emerald waters, the others will fill their eyes in front of the beauty of the beaches, all different from one another.

The route includes stages starting from around 250 km per day, which can be changed and lengthened according to the preferences of the group, and following the desire of the moment, because it is always a holiday after all :)

It is an accompanied trip, where we think of the whole organization down to the smallest details, and all you need to do is concentrate on the pleasure of driving, and on the excellent company. An unforgettable journey for which there are only 8 places available, so the advice is to book quickly.

Sardinia Moto trip

The motorbike program begins on Sunday 26 April in Olbia.

Our Elena will take the ferry from Livorno on the evening of April 25th, if you want you can make the trip with her to Livorno (since we have all the time Saturday, Elena would like to follow an approaching route, mostly avoiding the highway ), take the same ferry or find you directly in Olbia in the morning.

Day 1 - Sunday 26 April - Olbia - Tempio Pausania - Alghero - about 260 km

After a breakfast together to get to know each other and form the group we will leave for our first destination, Palau, the door of the Maddalena Archipelago, with its alternating granite rocks and beautiful beaches. Through the Valle della Luna we will arrive at Tempio Pausania where we will stop for lunch, that will be generous and well deserved!  We will then depart for the Gulf of Asinara, passing by Castelsardo, and we will arrive at our destination of the evening, the beautiful and lively Alghero.

Day 2 - Monday 27 April - Alghero - Torre dei Corsari - about 250 km

The first stop today will be Paulilatino, a small town where the remains of over 100 nuraghi are found, passing through the Santa Chiara Dam. Then we will continue towards Laconi, another emblematic place for the Nuragic civilization. After lunch we will ride uphill for a pleasant ride up to Barumini, where we can visit the largest Nuraghe in Sardinia. Then we will head towards Torre dei Corsari for the evening.

Day 3 - Tuesday 28 April - Torre dei Corsari - Pula - 200 km

Buggerru, in the Iglesiente, is a small village of miners, with an interesting story to tell. We will stop here in the morning, then leave again towards the south, towards Carbonia, and stop for lunch in the area. We will spend the night in this area, in the extreme south of the island.

Day 4 - Wednesday 29 April - Pula - Arbatax - 250 km

We continue our journey in ancient Phoenician Sardinia, through Villasimius and climbing past Ballao before stopping for lunch. Arbatax, the gateway to Ogliastra , with its red cliffs emerging from the sea like dragon scales, will be the destination of our end of the day.

Day 5 - Thursday 30 April - Gennargentu - Arbatax - 270 km

In the Gennargentu the highest peaks of the island are found, and for a motorcyclist this means curves that rise and fall, in a succession of emotions. We will pass by Atzara, one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, and we will enjoy the landscapes and the views that this area offers.

Day 6 - Friday 1 May - Arbatax - Olbia - 240 km

We left the most exciting leg for last: the Nuoro-Bitti section is in our opinion a perfect route, a 'track without curbs', 35 pleasant curves of turns one after the other. The day will take us back to Olbia, to take the ferry and return to the Continent.

Elena will take the ferry on the evening of Friday 1 May to return to Livorno.

For information on ferry fares and timetables, please contact us, we will gladly help you organize the crossing ([email protected] - or directly by chatting here)

Motorbikes are her thing. When she's not riding, she is dancing, country style.

Precise, strong, smiling and energetic, she's stubborn and never gives up. Expert in packing up for any trip, she's the one who offers you a spare toothbrush when you forgot yours!

Never without: dancing boots

Favourite quote: "Dance first. Think later"

Our motorbike tours are designed to be easy, relaxing and enjoyable. For this reason, we keep the number of participants so small (maximum 8), in order to adapt the rhythm and routes to the capabilities of the group. No one gets left behind, and that's why our motorcycle tours are suitable for beginners.

Driving will, however, be a significant part of the trip, so we recommend to self-assess your driving skills and endurance honestly before deciding to take a motorcycle trip.

This tour, however, does not require any exceptional driving skill:

  • There will be for sure some tight roads with hairpin turns, so you should be able to steer the bike in these situations.
  • We will not drive too fast, we will enjoy the road, the curves and the landscape.
  • there will be fun and enjoyable roads during all the tour.

If you want Elena to help you evaluate better the required level of expertise, you can contact her via e-mail at [email protected] , she will be happy to help!

Motorcycle Tour Guide Giroola capacity

You can ride with us on any kind of bike (you can also join with a big scooter, we don't discriminate against anyone!)

To be able to maintain an adequate pace that allows us to keep up with the various stages of the program, we recommend using a motorcycle that has at least

  • 300cc / 35cv / 25kW for tours with average daily travel up to 200-250km
  • 500cc / 40cv / 30kW for tours with an average daily distance of 250-300km or higher

This was, if the situation requires it, or when the tour requires it, we could also take advantage of some sections of motorway (which we usually try to avoid as much as possible). These are guidelines, we know that a good biker with a 250 can go faster than Elena with her Tiger 800, so if you have any doubts, do not hesitate to ask us.

This tour will be entirely on paved roads, so you can join with your motorcycle, or with the one you like, it should only have good tires and be well maintained.

If you would like to rent a bike for the trip, we are at your disposal: mark it in your reservation or contact Elena by emal at [email protected] and we will help you find the best ride possible!

The program of this trip starts on the morning of Sunday 26 April in Olbia, and ends again in Olbia in the late afternoon of Friday 1 May.

To get to Olbia you can take the ferry to Genoa, Livorno or Civitavecchia. We can book the ferry for you.

For the tour dates, the most convenient ferry is the one leaving from Livorno. Elena will take the ferry there:

  • on the evening of Saturday 25th April there is a ferry at 22.00 (meeting point for boarding around 20.00), arriving in Olbia around 6.30am on 26 April.
  • for the return on the evening of Friday 1 May the ferry is at 22.00, boarding directly at the end of our motorcycle tour and arrival in Livorno at 6.30am on Saturday 2 May

From Genoa, on the other hand, there are no ferries to Olbia on Saturday, but you should leave on Friday 24th April, at 7.30pm, arriving in Olbia on Saturday 25th April at 8.30am, then adding a day in the area and an overnight stay on 25th April to meet up again with the other motorcyclists on Sunday morning 26.

For the return again there are no ferries on Friday evening, and therefore you should stay one more day, starting then on Saturday 2 May and arriving in Genoa on the morning of 3 May.

You can also decide to go to Livorno and return to Genoa, or vice versa.

  • on the evening of Saturday 25th April there is a ferry at 10.30pm, arriving in Olbia around 6.30am on 26 April.
  • for the return on the evening of Friday 1st May the ferry is at 10.30 pm, boarding directly at the end of our motorcycle tour and arrival in Civitavecchia at 6.30 am on Saturday 2nd May

Our Elena will travel from Livorno, you can travel with her if you want, and in any case we can help you in booking and organizing this part of the journey. Contact us by writing to Elena ([email protected]) or by clicking directly here to chat.

Booking Policy, from the General Terms and Condition for the Sale of Tour Packages:

Acceptance of reservations by Giroola Srl is subject to availability. Reservations will be considered final following confirmation by Giroola Srl,  even via e-mail or fax, to the client.

Indications relative to the tour package not contained in the contract documents, brochures or other forms of written communication, will be supplied in time by Giroola Srl prior to the initial starting date in compliance with its duties as envisaged by Legislative . decree n. 79/2011.

Upon booking, a registration fee and a deposit of 25% of the total amount is required. Full payment is due 30 days prior to departure. For reservations made within 30 days of departure, full payment is due upon booking. Lack of payment of the abovementioned sums on the dates established constitutes grounds for cancellation of reservations such as to determine, on the part of Giroola Srl, the right to terminate the contract.

The client renouncing the contract may be substituted by another person provided that:

a) Giroola Srl be given written notice at least 4 weekdays prior to the date of departure, together with the necessary personal data of the transferee;

b) The transferee be able to satisfy all the conditions for the fruition of the service ( ex article 10 of Legislative decree n.111/95) and in particular the requisites relative to passports, visas, health certificates;

c) The transferee refund Giroola Srl for all expenses incurred for the transfer of the contract for the sum specified before the transfer.

Moreover, the transferor and the transferee are both accountable for the payment in full of the tour package price as well as for the sum as per item (c) of the present article.

As far as certain types of services are concerned, third party suppliers have the right to refuse the substitution of the transferee, even if effected within the time limit specified as per item (a) of the present article. Giroola Srl will therefore not be held responsible for the eventual non-acceptance of the substitution on behalf of third parties. This non-acceptance shall be notified in good time by Giroola Srl to the parties involved before departure.

In the event of withdrawing from the tour package contract, the client is, in any case, liable for the payment of the tour package price. If withdrawal takes place for reasons beyond those envisaged in article 7 of the present General Terms, the client shall pay, in compliance with ex article 1373, paragraph III, Italian Civil Code, cancellation penalties as specified below:

  • 10% of the tour package price within 30 days prior to departure
  • 30% of the tour package price from 29 to 18 days prior to departure
  • 50% of the tour package price from 17 to 10 days prior to departure
  • 75% of the tour package price from 9 to 3 weekdays prior to departure
  • 100% of the tour package price beyond these terms.

The client may withdraw from the contract, without incurring any penalty, in the following circumstances:

  • a significant change of one or more elements of the contract which can be objectively considered as fundamental for the fruition of the tour package in its entirety and proposed by Giroola Srl.
  • after the conclusion of the contract itself but prior to departure and not accepted by the client.

In the abovementioned circumstances, the client is entitled to the following options:

  • the fruition of an alternative tour package, with no increase in price or with the restitution of the excess in price, if the second tour package costs less than the first;
  • the restitution of any sum corresponded as partial payment. Said restitution must be made within seven weekdays from receiving the request for reimbursement.

The client must communicate the decision (to accept the change or to withdraw) within two weekdays from receiving notice of the price increase or change. In the absence of specific notice within the said term, the proposal made by Giroola Srl will be considered accepted. The client who decides to withdraw from the contract before departure for circumstances beyond those listed above shall pay, after deducting the account paid as per article 4, the penalty indicated in article 6.

Variations to the tour, requested by the client, after the confirmation of booking, could involve processing expenses for Giroola Srl and at times penalties charged by suppliers. If so, the customer will be charged. Partial withdrawal of some of the travellers under the same contract and the resulting decrease in number of tour members is to be considered partial cancellation and is consequently regulated as stated in article 6.

As specified in our General Conditions of Sale of tourist packages, when you travel with Giroola you are covered by our Civil Liability Insurance. For all that could happen and that was due to our negligence or error, we have signed a policy (Reale Mutua Assicurazioni, nr.2007 / 03/2276452).

There are other insurance policies that we recommend and for which we have chosen to work with Allianz Global Assistance, whose Globy range seems to us to be the most suitable for our travelers:

  • TRAVEL CANCELLATION - Our 8-person trips are often full months before the date of travel, and even if our cancellation policy is actually much more flexible than expressed in our Booking Policy (our travelers can attest to this, we are very available to move the trip in case of unexpected even the last minute), where other facilities are involved (hotels, rentals, etc) some expenses are not really refundable, and therefore a good trip cancellation insurance becomes a valuable ally.

We at Giroola are an agency of the Globy network of Allianz Global Assistance, and we can therefore provide you with all the information, make estimates and issue the policies directly with the booking.

For any information our Paola is at your disposal at the phone number +39 370 3506333, at the address [email protected] or in the chat directly on this page.

Egidio V.

A wonderful experience, managed perfectly by our escort and friend Elena. It was the first time for me to do such a long mototour with unknown people, yet it was extraordinary how after a few minutes we had all become friends. A lot of road, many villages, so many extraordinary landscapes: beautiful. Let's not forget the organizational commitment: approaching journey, route planning, restaurants and first class hotels. In short, great Giroola and immense Elena (automatic translation by Google)
